          AWARDs Meet the Hall of Fame MHS alums induct seven to new HOF

          Heather (Kahn) Braver never thought she’d be on TV when attending Malden High School — but she credits the school with preparing her for a successful career in news.

          Speaking at the inaugural MHS Hall of Fame induction ceremony on May 2, Braver described the school as a melting pot, saying that helped put her on the path to becoming a news anchor at WCVB Boston.

          "I have so many friends from different areas that when I graduated from MHS and I became a journalist, I could relate to anybody," she said.

          The new Hall of Fame was established by the Malden High School Alumni Association (MHSAA), which inducted seven members at Anthony’s with a ceremony and banquet that drew more than 150 people.

          The Class of 2014 was: Braver (‘85), columnist Kevin Cullen (‘77), Judge Phillip Weiner (‘72), linguist James Matisoff (‘54), musician Gary Cherone (‘79) and cartoonist Keith Knight Jr.

          (‘84).
